The Brief

Like many modern workplaces, our client’s newly acquired office used an open plan interior design. Whilst there are many benefits to open plan offices, private meeting rooms were fundamental within our client’s business. They got in touch with the team at Contract Interior Systems in need of a solution to divide two new meeting rooms before their staff moved in.

Following a comprehensive survey, we established the fine details and key requirements that were essential to the company’s day-to-day work. For them, the purpose of their renovations centred around acoustics; they required a solution that would dampen sound and ensure a degree of privacy.

The Solution

When it comes to improving acoustic performance, the location of partitioning is vital. We also needed to source a system that met the high ceilings and blocked any space where sound could escape.

Having taken accurate measurements, our team of fitters installed the meeting room’s front wall, complete with a solid core door. To combat acoustics, the structured wall also used double glazed windows that offered sound protection of up to 40-44dB. This prevented conversations from being overheard from the other side of the wall. What’s more, the transparency of the glass ensured that sufficient light still reached the newly divided area.

During the project, we faced complexities surrounding the existing office windows. To overcome this, we installed a demountable drywall system that offers the client flexibility to take down the relocatable partitioning system at a later date, should requirements change within their office space.

We completed the project within the client’s timeframe, installing two high performing meeting rooms before staff were due to move in.
