How are Humidity Resistant Ceilings Different?
Humidity resistant ceilings, also known as moisture resistant ceilings, are designed to withstand extremely humid conditions such as shower rooms, swimming pools, saunas, salons and spas. These types of environments should consider a specialist ceiling to prevent damage to the appearance and performance of their workplace.
Moisture resistant ceilings are different from standard suspended ceiling systems. Whilst a commercial ceiling can never be completely waterproof, humidity resistant ceiling tiles have water repellent properties to protect them from high levels of moisture in the air.
Unlike traditional mineral fibre ceiling tiles, these specialist ceilings are unlikely to fall victim to water damage, including warping, sagging, stains and in severe cases, tiles falling out of their gridwork. Our experts recommend upgrading your suspended ceiling with tiles that are at least 90% humidity resistant – in extremely aggressive environments such as swimming pools, we’d recommend 100%.
At Contract Interior Systems, we only use ceiling components that have been tried and tested within extreme environments. This ensures our non-corrosive ceiling installations provide essential protection to each environment.
What are the Benefits of Humidity Resistant Ceilings?
- With a non-corrosive suspended ceiling system, humid environments can ensure their workplace stays looking clean by avoiding serious water damage.
- Investing in a humidity resistant ceiling can help you save money in the long run on replacement tiles and regular maintenance.
- Damp environments are often subjected to mould and mildew, however, moisture resistant ceilings can reduce the build up of fungi and result in a more hygienic space.
- Alongside specialist ceiling tiles, we can install a non-corrosive ceiling grid to avoid rusting and other structural damage.
