From Dilapidation to Destination: Creating Ingeteam’s UK HQ

The Brief

Ingeteam, a forward-thinking, global player in the renewable energy sector, had big plans. Based in Spain and expanding rapidly, they set their sights on the UK, choosing Bristol as a vibrant city that offered both the logistics and culture to match their values. 

They wanted a UK headquarters that embodies their values of innovation, flexibility and high performance. But the space they had acquired was, well.. far from that.

When we first walked into their future workplace, we saw exactly what they saw: potential. The office and warehouse were dilapidated and outdated. Plus, after speaking about the team’s requirements, they were working with a budget.

As local commercial contractors, our challenge was to take a blank canvas and turn it into something exceptional while keeping cost requirements front of mind throughout.

The Solution

We started with the basics: clearing the space. This involved a series of dilapidation and strip out works – down came the old partitions, up came worn flooring and in came a fresh office shell for exciting changes ahead. 

With the groundwork cleared, we teamed up with our co-brand, Lake & Co Flooring, to apply a smoothing compound to the floors to create a level surface for the new finishes.

Throughout the entire project, we approached the office with a long-term view. Keeping continual conversations with Ingeteam, considerations were given to any of the work that would have a potential impact on any future use of the building, maximising their investment for future use.

Built with flexibility and scalability in mind..

The Office

Key to the office refurbishment was the frameless glass partitions that created the modern meeting rooms our client wanted and kept the space open and light. The back-to-back bench desks with built-in cable management allowed for streamlined operations. It wasn’t just about desks – it was about creating a productive office environment.

New flooring was installed throughout the office, with durable LVT and vinyl specified to meet the demands of the team and the work going on. We handled full decoration, including custom signage to reflect brand identity and ensure the office truly felt like their space.

The Training Room

With an investment in their people, Ingeteam required a training room for external and internal use. We enlarged this space to support their capacity needs, creating the ideal hub for learning and collaboration. More specifically, the area needed to be large enough for various electrical charging ports and group training sessions.

We also fitted two new kitchens, fully equipped to cater to the team’s needs. The washrooms were also given a full upgrade, with new plumbing services and IPS units in order to meet health and safety standards.

The Warehouse

In the warehouse, flexibility was key. We constructed a temporary office for operational workers using demountable partitions that could easily adapt for future growth. A new suspended ceiling system with additional insulation was also added to make the warehouse office as energy-efficient and comfortable as possible, year-round.

At the team’s request, block wall alterations were made on the upper level, allowing for the installation of a new window overlooking the warehouse floor – a simple but effective way to connect operations and create visibility.

The Outcome

Ingeteam now operates in a workplace designed to grow with them – flexible, modern and aligned with their pioneering role in the transition to renewable energy.

Working with a budget meant every decision had to count. We worked closely with the team to prioritise interior solutions that balanced cost with long-term value, like the use of demountable partitions for adaptability.
