The Brief

Newtown Centre, a community centre located in Nuneaton, needed the help of commercial interior experts for a refurbishment that would modernise their multi-use community hall space – the main area of their establishment.

Village hall and community centre interiors are typically characterised by hard surfaces from the materials used for floorings, walls and ceiling – our client’s was no different. Unfortunately, this meant they faced challenges regarding the acoustic performance in their hall, as well as low quality lighting levels.

To improve these work areas, our team undertook a detailed site survey. This provided us with the information needed to offer accurate and transparent advice on the best solution to enhance their new suspended ceiling system and suspended ceiling lighting levels.

The Solution

The overview of the project included the supply and construction of a suspended ceiling system in our client’s main hall. This was complete with lightweight, lay-in suspended ceiling tiles. To create a bright, modern space, we integrated LED lighting into the suspended ceiling grid. This eco-friendly solution also benefited our client by reducing their energy expenditures.

Due to our years of experience in the construction industry, we were able to operate safely at height to fit the ceiling. Our fitters began by setting out and installing the supporting ceiling grid at the highest point in the main hall. This installation technique meant that our client could benefit from maximised room height and natural light could still be brought in through their existing windows.

The suspended ceiling installation was completed in a matter of days. Our client was able to quickly reopen their premises to the public again and take bookings with minimal disruption to their business.
