Creating Space That Works: A Strategic Warehouse Refit

The Brief

With recent successes leading to company growth, Sensory Direct had high demands to maximise floor space within their existing warehouse unit.

After discussing the requirements they needed from their workspace, we curated a detailed brief that ticked off every objective. This involved creating as much additional space as possible on top of their existing mezzanine floor. 

The plan was to form offices in the above space. At ground level, we would create a new production room away from the busy operations happening in the warehouse.

The Solution

We conducted a series of surveys and discussions with our client, with the outcome in an efficient space plan. Our design allocated necessary space to ensure our client was getting the most from their warehouse interiors. It also provided a simple plan that our fitters could easily interpret, making for a smooth build process.

When it came to installation, we began with the construction of the new office rooms. These were formed using 75mm fast-track drywall partition systems. This particular partition wall offers great acoustic qualities to mitigate warehouse noises, providing a clean space where office-based staff could focus on work.

Next, we fitted a suspended ceiling system to the existing roof structure. This consisted of lay-in suspended ceiling tiles and associated suspended ceiling gridwork. The finish of the ceiling tiles boasted great light reflectance. Alongside the suspended ceiling lighting, we fitted within the ceiling grid, our client had better task lighting for their functioning and operations.

Finally, we fitted an economical contract grade flooring into the existing concrete floor, with a suitable floor smoothing compound.

The finished project has granted Sensory Direct with more space to utilise with racking and storage solutions. Our commercial interiors formed an efficient warehouse space with key areas to optimise operations in both production and office areas.
