How Much Do Partitions Cost?

Demountable Partition

Investing in office partitioning is one of the most effective ways to transform an existing space without undertaking a full renovation. Whether you’re creating focused work zones, breakout areas, or private offices, partitioning offers an efficient, adaptable, and cost-effective solution.

But how much do office partitions actually cost?

The answer depends on several key factors, from the material you choose to the performance requirements of your space. At Contract Interior Systems, we specialise in sourcing and installing affordable, high-quality partitioning systems tailored to both your workplace needs and your budget.

What Affects the Cost of Office Partitioning?

Before you go ahead with your project, there are several important factors to consider that can affect the overall price of your system. This includes:

  • Material type and finish
  • Acoustic and security performance
  • Flexibility and ease of relocation
  • Installation complexity
  • Size and layout of your workspace

Your priorities – whether aesthetic, functional or financial – will ultimately determine which partition system is best suited to your environment.

What Types of Office Partitioning are There?

As commercial fit out contractors, we install partition walls in a variety of options. Each system offers its own benefits in terms of appearance, performance and how it looks. Here are a few popular options we offer.

1. Drywall Partitions

Drywall partitioning is one of the most affordable systems. They’re a great choice for businesses looking to create privacy and reduce noise without stretching the budget. These solid walls can be painted or finished to complement your existing interior, making them both practical and customisable.

2. Glass Partitions

For a modern design, our glass partitioning systems are a popular choice. They allow natural light to flood through your office, offering a whole host of benefits. Options range from frameless glazed partitions to framed and frosted glass for added privacy. While they sit at a slightly higher price point than drywall, they bring long-term value by supporting wellbeing and property value.

3. Industrial Partitioning

In high-traffic or secure environments, industrial partitioning provides better durability and security. We offer a variety of systems, including single skin steel partitions, double skin steel partitions and mesh partitions. These offer different price points and will therefore be a factor to consider if you’re looking for a partitioning solution for this type of environment.

4. Acoustic Partitioning

Most office partition walls provide a degree of acoustic protection. They act as a barrier to reduce sound reverberations that might transfer into or out of that area. Ultimately, it’s a great way to reduce disruptions from room to room.

Depending on the nature of your building and the desired level of noise control you need, we can specify an acoustic partitioning system. This will typically depend on your workspace. For example, meeting rooms and private offices typically require better soundproofing. In general, the better the acoustic performance, the dearer the price.

5. Sliding Partition Walls

If you want flexibility in how your space functions, folding or sliding partition walls offer the best of both worlds. These systems let you switch effortlessly between open-plan and private spaces without the need to expand your premises. They’re perfect for meeting rooms, training zones and multifunctional workspaces (and can save you plenty of money that would otherwise be spent on reconfiguring your office!).

6. Demountable Partitioning

Our team has years of experience installing and removing partitions as part of wider office fit out projects. Demountable partitioning (also referred to as relocatable partitioning) takes this even further, offering systems that can be easily dismantled and reassembled in a new location.

This not only reduces waste and installation time but also saves money on future office moves or redesigns.

Choosing demountable office partitions could also come with financial incentives. As they now qualify as Plant & Machinery assets, businesses may be eligible to claim capital allowances for their installation.

Between April 2021 and March 2022, the Government even introduced a 130% super-deduction for qualifying expenditure. While that particular scheme has ended, there are still a number of tax-efficient benefits available. Speak to your financial advisor or visit the Government Super Deduction Factsheet for more details.
