Improving Thermal Efficiency with an Insulated Suspended Ceiling

The Brief

Our client approached our team at Contract Interior Systems for help improving the thermal efficiency of their workplace. In particular, they were in need of an insulating suspended ceiling system, with reliable contractors they could trust to fit this within their existing farmhouse barn.

They were keen to maintain as much height in the barn as possible to maximise the usage of space. The main requirement, however, was to retain as much heat as possible to keep the workspace warm during the winter months, as well as cooler in the summer.

The Solution

To kickstart the project, we undertook a full and comprehensive survey during the initial consultation phases. From this, our experts were able to correctly specify the right suspended ceiling tile and supporting ceiling grid combination. We were also able to provide thermal data on the insulation that would be installed for our client’s convenience.

As part of the suspended ceiling installation, we fitted 600 x 600mm PVC-faced wipeable ceiling tiles with a gypsum core. The suspended ceiling tiles were fitted into a T24 ceiling grid. We finished the project by installing ceiling insulation, using the specification of 200mm polythene encapsulated pads. When completed, this insulating ceiling system perfectly met the demands of our client’s barn.
