5 Benefits of Demountable Partitions

Drywall Partitioning

If the last few years taught us anything, it’s that the modern workplace needs to be adaptable. Whether part of a larger office reconfiguration or downsizing project, it can get expensive to keep pace with the ever-changing modern working environment.

Since the pandemic, we’ve seen a demand for internal demountable partitioning. The flexible room dividers are ideal for growing businesses looking to ‘futureproof’ their workspace. Investing in relocatable systems can offer many benefits, including:

  • Flexibility
  • Sustainability
  • Cost savings
  • Installation
  • Design

To learn exactly how demountable partitions can transform your space, read on.

What is a Demountable Partition?

Demountable wall partitions are a non-permanent type of office wall. They’re designed to support flexibility within the workplace. Unlike permanent office partitions, they are manufactured with an aluminium framework that makes the installation process slightly different.

What are Demountable Partitions Made From?

A demountable office partition can be manufactured from a number of materials to suit different design and performance requirements. The most popular is plasterboard or glazed glass, complete with an aluminium framework.

For most of our fit out projects, we use an H50 demountable partition. This is manufactured with honeycomb plasterboard and a vinyl wall covering. With that said, we offer many other modules to meet your requirements.

Why Use Demountable Office Partitions?

If you’re thinking of dividing your office space, we recommend considering the advantages that demountable partitions could offer you.

1. Flexibility

Demountable walls are perfect for businesses looking to separate work areas but aren’t quite ready to commit to more permanent walls. Unlike alternative partitioning solutions, they offer a desirable flexibility that’s ideal for growing companies and short tenancy agreements.

Our recent office fit out in Bristol is a perfect example of how their flexibility can be advantageous for businesses. We installed demountable partitions to create a temporary office space within our client’s warehouse – a dust-free environment during operations and machinery work. This choice of partitioning meant our client could easily remove their office space when their work was completed without disturbing the warehouse’s external interiors.

Due to their flexibility, demountable partitions are also supportive for businesses looking to create a hybrid office design. You can learn more about this by reading our article.

2. Sustainability

It’s estimated that ⅓ of the UK’s waste comes from the construction sector (Miller, N. 2021, bbc.com). Demountable partitions are one way your business can take action. The wonderful thing about this type of system is that they can be relocated or taken with you should you decide to move – saving them from polluting our landfills. You’ll also help to reduce energy wasted on manufacturing new partitioning.

3. Cost Savings

By reusing your relocatable partitioning, you can save yourself money that would otherwise be spent on a completely new system! It’s likely that you’ll also experience reduced labour costs investing in this cheap office divider over alternative solutions due to the ease of installation and removal.

Better yet, there are certain tax allowances that accompany demountable partitioning. Section 23: List C of the Capital Allowances Act (2001) qualifies this type of system as ‘Plant & Machinery’, meaning you could claim capital allowances against tax. Please note: This is unique to each system, and we advise that you seek legal advice to ensure your partitions fall within these terms.
